Update from the Regional Engagement Manager

In the few short weeks that I’ve been in the Regional Engagement role, I’ve been speaking with many of ALIA’s Regional Groups and hearing about their upcoming events and the work they do to celebrate the local community. I was fortunate to travel last week to meet the dynamic Darwin locals rekindling a Group for GLAM practitioners in the Top End. Read more about the trip here. I’m also excited by the Debunking Social Media workshops organised by ALIA QLD, which will be held on Zoom and open to anyone. These examples are just a small taste of the smorgasbord of ALIA Group activity.

Groups are an essential part of the life of the Association and the LIS sector in Australia – and the ALIA Team are making some changes to better support these Groups.  Very soon you will see a 2023 revision of the Groups Handbook (a go to guide for Groups); and updates to the Groups and Committees page on the ALIA Website.

Each Group has a web presence through the ALIA Website, and it’s crucial that the information here is up-to-date. Consider this a call-to-action for each Group to check their web presence and ensure their contact details, committee names, links to blogs etc are correct. Contact me if any edits are needed.
