From the Regional Engagement Manager: the many possibilities of ALIA Groups

This past fortnight I connected with ALIA Groups throughout Australia, and am enlivened by the ideas, events and opportunities that are being developed. I’ve helped ALIA West put together a program for a networking event at Perth’s City Library; learned more about marketing using social media thanks to the first of ALIA QLD’s Webinar Series; attended Zoom meetings with the Convenor of ALIA Island and the ALIA VIC Group to chat about 2023 possibilities; corresponded with the ALIA Sydney and Hunter Groups; and begun working with ALIA SA to develop a South Australian library award and awards night. I’m also looking forward conversations in the ACT at the ALIA AGM Networking Event later this month.

These ALIA Groups are an essential part of the life of ALIA and the Australian library sector, and it’s thanks to their energetic and committed members that professional development events and networking opportunities exist locally. Groups are always welcoming new members, so head to our freshly updated Groups and Committees page on the website to find contact information for a Group in your region. Or want to start a new Group in your region? Find the recently revised ALIA Groups Handbook in the Member Resources section of the website. This handbook has been developed to assist Members with everything from how to set-up and run a group; how to run events; how to manage Group finances; and how the ALIA Office can support Group activities.
