ALIA Blog: All the exciting changes to INCITE magazine for 2023

In exciting news, INCITE will be coming to you new and improved in 2023! After many years in its current format, the magazine will undergo a redesign to refresh its look-and-feel and to create more opportunities for more contributors and we can’t wait to bring you on the journey with us.

What’s changing:

INCITE will now we published 4 times per year

Four editions of INCITE will be published annually - in March, June, September and December. The quarterly schedule will give you more time to develop your submissions and with the page length of the magazine increasing to 44 pages (from 36) there will be more spots available for your contributions on any aspect of the LIS sector (and of course - more content for our eagle-eyed readers!).

INCITE will be available in a new digital-only format

As of 2018, every second issue of INCITE has been published in a digital-only format. The move to having all editions published in this is the next step into making this a more eco-friendly publication and a part of ALIA's commitment to sustainability across all levels. In addition, the new design will utilise many of the innovative design opportunities afforded by digital publication.

Submissions are welcomed on any topic relevant to the sector

To open up the topical and creative possibilities for our contributors, there will be no specific theme for any edition of INCITE. We want to hear more stories from more corners of our profession, and we want INCITE to be a publication that can delve into the most up-to-date issues within the sector, regardless of topic.

What’s staying the same:

We’ll still be bringing you the latest in ALIA and sector news, cutting-edge submissions from LIS professionals, updates from the editor, ALIA President and ALIA CEO, as well as a few exciting new features....

New features:

  • CPD spotlight: each edition will feature a snapshot of one of our Continuing Professional Development stars! We know how hard so many of you work on your professional development and we want to share your achievements, reflections and ideas. If you're interested in participating, please email [email protected]
  • My Pathway: we are fascinated by how our colleagues get to where they are, and the professional journeys they wish to embark on in the future. Each edition will profile the unique pathway of a LIS professional. If you would like to be profiled, please email [email protected]
  • From the archive: As LIS professionals, we are always future-focussed, but there is much to learn from the past, too. Each edition of INCITE will include a 'From the Archive' section, focussing on a person, topic, issue or event that impacted the sector. We're very open to your expertise and historical knowledge, so if you have something from the archive you'd like shared, please email [email protected]
