New ALIA Strategic Plan prepares Members for the future

Canberra, 6 October: The Board of Directors of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) has released the ALIA Strategic Plan 2021-2024. The strategic plan was developed with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as a planning framework and outlines the Association’s strategic priorities and associated major initiatives.
 
Vicki Edmunds, ALIA President, said, ‘The library and information sector has had to rethink every aspect of what we do due to the COVID-19 pandemic and our Members have shown great courage and creativity to adapt to these challenges. 
‘Our plan builds on this and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the SDGs with initiatives that focus on diversity, environmental sustainability and responsible procurement and partnerships’. 

 

The strategic priorities for the Association until 2024 are:
1. Supporting a resilient, diverse workforce
2. Developing alliances and collaborative ventures
3. Succeeding through advocacy
4. Enhancing Member value

Additional to the SDGs, the other major initiatives concentrate on improving Member value and experience and include:
• Continued focus on Professional Pathways
• Opportunities to refresh our committees and group
• Reviewing our membership model
• Maximising opportunities from our new website and database
