More than 1,000 items in the ALIA Library

Canberra, 22 April 2020: The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) is pleased to announce that its free to access ALIA Library, now has more than 1,000 catalogued collection items. Formerly known as READ ALIA, the library contains conference papers, reports, surveys, standards, guidelines and other information produced by the Association to support the work of library and information professionals in Australia and around the world.

Sue McKerracher, ALIA CEO, says ‘the ALIA Library contains some of the history of the Association, with some documents dating back to the 1970s as well as 'born digital' materials from the 1990s onwards. It is a work in progress, and we will continue to add to the repository on a regular basis’. 

Records have been created using the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative, the internationally recognised standard of 15 elements which describes each item.  Resource Description and Access, the descriptive cataloguing standard has been applied to ensure consistency. Subject headings have been selected from the Library of Congress Subject Headings. 
Resources can be found using a keyword or advanced search or by subject if you have a particular topic in mind. Some records have a link to Trove where you can find further information and library holdings.
