Library achievements showcased to parliamentarians

Canberra, 13 November 2019: The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), the ALIA Australia Public Library Alliance (APLA), and National and State Libraries Australia have released the report A year in libraries 2019. The report details how libraries have supported digital inclusion, education, the Year of Indigenous Languages, and the Year of the Public Domain throughout 2019.
The report was officially revealed at the ALIA, ALIA APLA and NSLA co-hosted reception at Parliament House, on 26 November 2019. The report was well received by the library and GLAMR leaders, parliamentarians, special guests and industry partners in attendance.

‘Libraries are a cornerstone of freedom of access to information and education, as this report demonstrates, and are leading the way in celebrating diverse culture and traditions. We look forward to continuing to support this work in 2020’, Sue McKerracher ALIA CEO, said.
