Australian Evidence Based Practice Librarians Institute 2023

Australian Evidence Based Practice Librarians Institute 2023

Event Description

The Institute will be an introduction to Evidence-Based Practice, with a focus on question building, searching, critical appraisal of the literature and advanced topics related to systematic reviews. As with previous Institutes, the program will be presented by health sciences librarians from Australia and the US. The curriculum combines updated content in engaging large group lectures and small group sessions for practicing concepts covered in the large groups. It is a four-day residential program for hospital and academic librarians to work together in a relaxed and supportive environment. The 2023 curriculum is designed for hospital and academic librarians supporting clinical practice information needs, research and teaching and includes:

  • Study designs used in clinical research,
  • Clinical questions to facilitate efficient searching skills to support patient care,
  • Critical appraisal of clinical research, including randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews and qualitative research,
  • Tools and resources to support the development of exhaustive search strategies for systematic reviews and search strategies for complex clinical topics such as clinical redesign

We acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin nations, the Traditional Owners of the land on which we will gather. We pay our respects to the local people for allowing us to have our gathering on their land and to their Elders: past, present and future.
